• When I walked into Matt's studio during his show last April I was struck by the ability of Matt's paintings to have an organic and landscape feel, but still maintain the interesting curiosity of the abstract form. I was specifically drawn to a beautifully atmospheric sort of brown tone painting sitting on the far wall. My problem was that I needed a differently shaped painting for the space I had free in my living room. I struck up a conversation with Matt and asked him if he was interested in painting a commission for me. He became animated and told me that his favorite way to paint is to do a work for a specific space. We talked for a while and made an appointment for him to come over and have a look at the space. Matt came to my apartment soon after and about a month later Matt delivered the painting. I've already received several complements from guests.
